Halloween - READ THIS FIRST!

Okay, so I have to start this post with a preface: I have sacrificed my personal and family pride this year for Halloween in order to secure my oldest child's happiness. After you see the pictures of Carson's Halloween costume, you will realize that I should win "Mother of the Year." Here's the story:

Back in September, Carson and I were discussing options for Halloween. He just didn't love any of my suggestions so we poured over every costume catalog and website we could find in search of this year's disguise. After a brief run through Target I finally had him convinced to be a tough-looking firefighter: very manly. Victory! I had a costume.

We were walking through the isle to make our purchase and that is when he saw it. THE costume. In the TODDLER isle, no less - Pablo the penguin from the Backyardigans. Anyone who has been around Carson this past month knows that he refers to himself as Pablo (the old ladies in the grocery stores probably think I am crazy naming my toe-head son Pablo, but he continues to respond as such to any question of "what's your name?")

So, being the fabulous mother that I am (no comments, please), I have sacrificed my own personal feelings and have happily let my sweetheart jump for joy at wearing Pablo, the-too-tight-because-it-was-meant-for-toddlers, the penguin costume.

Connor had no say in his costume whatsoever, so he was happy to be a spider.

Now, enjoy the photos!

Pablo, the Penguin.

Not all spiders are scary!

He actually wore the hat!

Our first family photo since Connor was born. How sad!

Love it, it amazes me how picky children can be about how they dress, look at it this way he is going to love this story when he gets older. Ditto on the family picture, we didn't get one till Schnepf Farms except for us leaving the hospital ( gag). So glad to finally see a picture of you posted, you look fantastic.

He looks great as Pablo! Elisa also didn't want to be what I wanted her to be, and to top it off, she decided what everyone was going to be this year. She was especially upset at her Daddy (Marc) for not dressing up...She wanted him to be a monster. Kids are funny! I love the family pic of you guys - so sweet.

I LOVE that you gave in and let Carson dress up as Pablo... you know, that show has some pretty catchy tunes, I don't blame him. :) The little boy I tended last Spring dressed up as Pablo last year...it's a craze! I'm glad to finally see a picture of the posting author on this blog too! Cute family! :)

I know if only we could pick their costumes, but we have to let them do it. I love the spider costume though, that is so cute. It's fun when they are too little to pick their own. Enjoy it while it lasts.

That is hilarious! I haven't hit the stage where my kids HAVE to pick out their own costumes (thank heavens). I am sure we will be going through some fun next year however! Looks like you guys are doing good. I love your blonde hair.... so cute!

Hi Kevin and Jen!! How the heck are you guys?!? I found your blog when I was looking at Greg and Melissa Evans blog. I have one too!! www.lindsaylevi.blogspot.com

BYU-Hawaii is awesome! I'm so glad I'm here, yet I can't wait to be done with school!! I graduate with my B.S. in Accounting December 2008. One year left!! I'm currently dating, but nothing serious. Just having fun :)

Your boys are darling! Carson is quite the character. Aren't they so much fun at that age? Tell Kevin CONGRATS on getting into medical school. That is awesome.

Well, keep in touch. I will definitely be looking at your blog from time to time.

Love ya!!
